Returning My Attention to God

I have become very interested in the life of Frank Laubach and his desire to bring conversation with God into every minute of his day.  He practiced being aware of the presence of God in the 1900s as Brother Lawrence did in the 1600s. Think of it - conversing with God in every minute of your day!

I so want that in my life.  God, incorporated into every minute of my day. Constant conversation with the Almighty God, our Father, Savior, Redeemer and Friend.

Here is something that I found helpful. I keep it posted here at my desk at work as a constant reminder.  I hope it is of some help to you as well.
A tool in Practicing the Presence of God

RETURN MY ATTENTION TO GOD

  1. Share a secret smile with Him
  2. Rejoice in His love for me
  3. Whisper His name
Intersperse these peaceful interludes abundantly throughout the day.
It will enable me to attain a gentle and quiet spirit, which is pleasing to God.

Deut 31:6
Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.

I Peter 3:4
But let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.

2 Cor 4:6-7
For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

2 Cor 12:9
And He said to me,  "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.

Col 3:1-4
Therefore, if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

Starting the Day

I have been thinking a lot about 'brokeness' and His strength being made perfect in our weakness. We are all flawed but I hope that you are encouraged. I am.  In my weakness and unfaithfulness - He is faithful and He is strong. AND He PURPOSES to use us for His glory!
Yes, if you are breathing today - then God has purpose for you in His kingdom work!  Go to Him this morning.  Spend time at His feet, in His Word. Keep connected to Him throughout the day! Thank Him for all He has done for you and given you! I mean really - look at this gorgeous day!
Start by doing what is most important -
Luke 10:41-42 - But the Lord answered and said to her. "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken from her."

And what exactly was Mary doing?
Luke 10:39  She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord's feet listening to His Word.

Begin your day at the feet of Jesus. No one can take that connect with Jesus away from you.  Thank Him! Enjoy Him!  Live in the awareness of His Presence dwelling within you. Live each moment for Him. Obey Him. You will never regret it! And your day will be brighter because of it.
